SETTLE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL – TWHBEA NEEDS TO POLL ITS MEMBERSHIP ON HR 1518(PAST) BILL – WHITFIELD AMENDMENT

Lewisburg, TN – The TWHBEA Executive Committee on May 25, 2013, by a courageous decisive 7 – 4 vote approved TWHBEA endorsing HR 1518 bill before Congress which now has 131 co-sponsors. Without any authority in the By-Laws to do so, the “Big Lick” sore horse crowd attempted to roll back that action by voting not to approve the Executive Committee’s action.

Although Tennessee Walking Horse breed registry, TWHBEA, is firmly on record supporting the Whitfield Amendment which would remove the pads and chains, the issue need to be decided one and for all.

TWHBEA should immediately poll its membership using the same procedure it does for its annual Directors elections – EXCEPT there needs to be an option to vote by E-mail which is now used across the country by professional associations such as accountants.

Both the Celebration and TWHBEA are losing money hand over fist – the Celebration $1,491,000.00 and TWHBEA is spending reserves to pay operating expenses.

The bleeding needs to stop and the Tennessee Walking Horse breed needs to be saved.

Only TWHBEA can take this decisive action to set the future course for the breed to get out of the deadly quick sand it presently finds itself.

  1. they will not let ppl vote by e-mail,they know if that happens the Flatshod folks would win hands down.if ya take a count of lickers to flat shod the #s speak loud and clear.im foe an e-mail vote lets do it.NOW!

  2. Absolutely! Let the membership decide. The problem is, the people involved in this “comedy of errors” do NOT understand majority rule. On one hand, the minority seem to have an uncanny ability to keep this “train wreck” going but only because the majority DO NOT realize the power they have and seem to be quite unwilling to speak up and take a stand. This is American society today. An earlier generation would have spoken “loud and clear” before things ever got this far. The LOSS of revenue alone would have decided the issue.

  3. The performance horse is dead. lets move forward and create a great TWH that can walk the walk.

  4. So proud of this young man. And I’m very grateful to witness the success of all who have worked tirelessly for decades to bring about this change. Going out to the barn to hug my senior TWHs: Aceman (29), Levi (24) and Music (22). They may be geriatric but they are still vibrant and happy trail horses. Had they been “BL” horses they most certainly would have been over the rainbow long ago. Bravo! Brava! to all of our Sound Horse Heros!

  5. In my opinion, “The Lickers” need to understand that the new order is going to be better than TWHBEA going broke, Celebration going broke, and the people who have mares and raise colts going broke.
