Nephew Eugene was in Shelbyville today looking for a barn help job at the Celebration this year. He’s worried he won’t get one because of all the uproar that’s been going on. Eugene was at Legend’s tonight and he heard a lot of big shot trainers talking, and they were some upset.
It seems they had been to a Trainers meeting this evening and some SHOW HIO guy done told them that how the inspections were going to work with these new Mandatory “Minimum Penalties”. The Trainers Boys were apparently reassured that if the DQPs checked a horse that was out of compliance, that rather being given a ticket, the horse would just be considered “UNACCEPTABLE” – and it would just have to go on back to the barn.
The Trainer boyz thought that was a pretty fair arrangement.

But then somebody else done told them AFTER the meeting that the USDA planned to check on any of these “UNACCEPTABLE” horses and write them up.
And that’s when the Trainer Boys done became unglued. They were cussin’ and going on Eugene said he kept hearing them talk about some man named Chester.

Eugene said he’s never seen a group of grown men act out in a public place like he done seen tonight in Shelbyville.
Eugene is pretty upset, too, because he doesn’t know if all this means he won’t be able to get a barn help job.
If any of y’all know of a place that Nephew Eugene might call for a job, please let me know, and I’ll be sure to pass it along.
Nephew Eugene also said he heard that all the head Trainer Boys and SHOW HIO DQP Head Mitchell Butler were supposed to meet with “Herr” Howard tonight.
