MARYVILLE, TN – Informed sources say that District Attorney General Mike Flynn presented a multi-count indictment to a Blount County Grand Jury against Larry Joe Wheelon Monday which contained conspiracy counts along with charging three other individuals besides Wheelon with various crimes.
Flynn replaced Ellen Berez as lead attorney and substituted in her place a younger Kenlin Foster. Other items which went before the Grand Jury yesterday have been published today in the Maryville newspaper, The Daily Times, but absolutely nothing on Wheelon.
The silence is deafening.
There were reports that District Attorney General Flynn strangely would not allow certain witnesses to testify before the Grand Jury, one being USDA Veterinarian Bart Sutherland, and also would not approve the Grand Jurors seeing a video tape from the day of the raid.
Rumors are circulating that if true bills were returned, that special treatment is possibly being extended Wheelon, and others charged. At this point it is inexplicable to seasoned court observers how this is all being handled.
