LEWISBURG, TN – In an unprecedented move, over 20% of the approximately 211 California members of TWHBEA, in accordance with Tennessee law, have petitioned TWHBEA to set a Meeting for the purpose of voting on the removal of Christy Lantis as California Director.
Normally, TWHBEA Directors elections are decided by members voting by mailing in secret ballots, but in the instance of the Christy Lantis removal, TWHBEA’s President Steve Smith and Sr.Vice President Walt Chism conferred and in a nutso move decided
that the proper procedure, rather than have the California members vote by mail using secret ballots, to require the California members travel all the way to Lewisburg, Tennessee, and at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014, vote in person to cast the deciding votes if Lantis is to be removed or not from the California directorship.
The Smith and Chism action seem to have no compunction in causing California TWHBEA members extraordinary difficulty in expressing their will to remove Lantis, but strange things are going on at North Ellington Parkway in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
More to come on those in days to come.
Christy Lantis serves on the TWHBEA Executive Committee as VP – Fiscal Affairs,
Lantis served a rocky year during 2012 – 2013 as VP – Performance Horse Committee Chairman:
- Lantis planned a Performance Horse Summit for early March 2013, then it was postponed until May 2013. Lantis announced the appearance of Ram Purohit, DVM, Auburn Study author, but after thinking about it, Dr.Purohit decided he wanted no part of the Big Lick show case and declined to attend.
- The TWHBEA Executive Committee then voted 7 – 4 in May 2013 to endorse the HR 1518 legislation, PAST ACT, removing the pads and chains.
- In October 2013, 63% of the TWHBEA members voted FOR passage of HR 1518 to remove pads and chains, eliminate the corrupt HIOs and make horse soring a federal felony.
Christy Lantis was the front person for a Big Lick “lynch mob” who tried to cast aside the TWHBEA rules of procedure at the September 27, 2013, Executive Committee meeting. Quarterbacked by David L. Howard operative, current Enforcement Committee Chairman Tom Kakassy, Christy Lantis led the “lynch mob” efforts against Pat Stout, VP-Horse Shows, at the September 27, 2013 Executive Committee meeting.
The California members apparently overwhelmingly supported passage of HR 1518, and are unhappy with Christy Lantis for not representing the views of the California constituents who elected her to office.
Christy Lantis has been showing Big Lick horses since she was a teenager. She is closely associated with California Big Lick horse trainer Russ Thompson who pled guilty for a 2006 episode in which he staged an impromptu horse show outside the Celebration show ring. Thompson’s horse entered in the Big Stake World Grand Championship got turned down as being sore, so then Thompson and some more Big Lick Trainer Boyz staged an impromptu illegal exhibition outside the Celebration arena. The USDA prosecuted him for it.
The Russ Thompson Big Lick barn gang is expected to make the trip to Lewisburg, Tennessee to attempt to block Lantis’s removal as California director.
With each passing day, it becomes more and more apparent that the “Lewisburg Accords” are the only way out of seemingly endless nightmare going on regarding the Tennessee Walking Horse breed registry.
