BRENTWOOD, TN – TWHBEA President Steve Smith has been roused from his holiday slumber by the rumblings, mutterings and protestations of his subjects along with people watching from all over America and throughout the world.
Smith issued the following letter today to TWHBEA Directors:
STEVE SMITH – TWHBEA PRESIDENT
The Chattanooga Time Free Press reported Tuesday that the (Steve Smith-Walt Chism) TWHBEA regime is apparently oppressing TWHBEA members from California by forcing them to travel over 4,000 miles by bus across the United States in the dead of winter to Lewisburg, Tennessee to vote on February 3, 2013 regarding the removal of Big Lick Director Christy Lantis.
California Director Christy Lantis and TWHBEA President Steve Smith, who is also U.S.Senator Lamar Alexander’s Campaign Finance Chairman, have gained notoriety by opposing the passage of the Prevent All Soring Tactics Act before Congress. Smith has a Horse Protection Act violation citation in his history, and he rented a barn for 25 years to serial horse sorer, HPA violator, David Landrum of Franklin, Tennessee.
In a nation wide opinion poll of the TWHBEA members in October 2013, the California TWHBEA members voted 79% “YES” to the following question:
There are 211 California TWHBEA members and 37% of them voted in the HR 1518/S1406 Nationwide Poll ҬӬin which the entire United States of America and the rest of the world has lined up against the sore Big Lick with an overall landslide 63% in favor of passage of the Prevent All Soring Tactics Act.
In his letter today, TWHBEA President Steve Smith takes ownership of the situation, and appears in a high-handed manner to impose his personal will on the spirit and intent of the Tennessee law which allows the members of a non-profit corporation to petition for removal and vote on removal of a Director.
Smith says: “In my opinion, the Board of Directors’ election process is the proper place to “un-elect” members of our board that displeased their state’s members”
The Petition drive to remove Lantis started in September 2013. The Tennessee statute requires 10% of the members to petition, and TWHBEA took the position the Californians had to have 20%. The Californians came up with over 25% to force the meeting to vote on Lantis removal. The Petition was submitted on December 5, 2013.
The disaffected California members have met all the requirements, and now simply want to be able to use secret written ballots to cast their votes ““ the same as were used to elect Christy Lantis in the first place. The TWHBEA By-Laws provide for the use of written ballots. TWHBA bills itself as an “International” organization – yet Steve Smith apparently wants the members to come to Lewisburg, Tennessee to handle this matter.
President Smith condescendingly dismisses the public outrage from all over the United States and internationally of his regime’s apparent oppression of its California members as “internet chatter”. Perhaps President Smith should take note that the deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak also considered what some upset folks in his country were doing as just “internet chatter” in their protesting his oppression of the Egyptian people.
And you see where President Mubarek ended up.
You really have to wonder how much U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander appreciates Campaign Finance Chairman/TWHBEA President Steve Smith bringing all this soring stuff to his door. One has to wonder if it’s worth the $3 million in fund raising?
