FORMER CELEBRATION CEO DOYLE MEADOWS APPEARS TO BE OUT AT PSHA, NASHVILLE COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST AGENT GAYLE HOLCOMB LIKELY TO BE CHOSEN AS NEW PSHA CHAIR

SHELBYVILLE, TN – Informed sources believed to be reliable say that life time Big Lick enthusiast Gayle Holcomb,  Nashville Country Music artist agent, will most likely become the new PSHA (Performance Show Horse Association) Chairperson.   Holcomb would replace the baggage loaded former Celebration CEO Doyle Meadows who took over for sore  Terry Dotson in October after two of Doston’s horses were turned down as sore at the 2013 Celebration.

Holcomb apparently has a robust history of HPA Citations:

GAYLE HOLCOMB

Holcomb is a life long Big Licker who has been showing Big Lick horses for over 35 years, from the mid 1970s to 2013.

Gayle Holcomb had her Big Lick horses with David Landrum,  serial HPA violator who has rented a barn from TWHBEA President Steve Smith for over 25 years.

President Smith got an HPA Violation Notice on a horse trained by Landrum.

Landrum’s assistant  trainer was  Tim Smith, and when Smith and Landrum parted in 2013, Gayle Holcomb’s horses left Landrum’s barn and went with Tim Smith.

The background:    PSHA has been a tortured controversial creature since it was concocted to take over from TWHSHO in trying to save the sore Big Lick Horse. TWHSHO was a bunch of rich Big Lick folks who David L. Howard  invited  through son Jeffrey in 2012 to defend the sore Big Lick. Then in 2013,  Howard came up with PSHA to replace TWHSHO and use it to bring all the horse inspections under his control.  The Trainer Boyz were stampeded into pledging they would only show at  PSHA shows.

David L. Howard’s impetus is he was the Father of SHOW HIO which owes the parent Celebration about $600,000.00.   Known for his love of complete control, Howard came up with the scheme of PSHA (Performance Show Horse Association) which would serve dual purposes:

  1. Get SHOW HIO out of debt because it would force the Trainer Boyz to show ONLY at SHOW HIO shows.
  2. Let David L. Howard have control of the Inspections by hiring those “good ole boys” to administer them.   Dr. Steve Mullins comes to mind.

The only minor problem is when the Big Lick tried to force feed the PSHA on USDA last March at the Trainer’s Show on a “hurry up” basis, the USDA balked on a “shotgun certification” so SHOW HIO had to continue in its tortured money losing direction.

Terry Dotson was chosen as PSHA Chair and was full of vim and vigor. Following the March 2013 Trainers Show, which the public did not attend,  Terry Dotson, Trainer Boyz President Mickey McCormick, Lobbyist Jeff Speaks and Jeffrey Howard went to see U.S. Secretary of Agriculture on March 30, 2013,  for 15 minutes.

Dotson assured Secretary Vilsack that PSHA would stop soring and clean it up.  Then Dotson got two horses turned down as sore at the 2013 Celebration, got mad and had a verbal altercation with a USDA VMO,  and up and abruptly quit as PSHA Chair.

Needing somebody without HPA violations, the Big Lick turned temporarily to former Celebration CEO Doyle Meadows who although he doesn’t have any HPA violations,

Meadows presided over the Celebration when it went into decline and lost close to a million dollars. He also was over SHOW HIO which was owned by the Celebration. In October 2013, Purple Strategies wrote a letter for Meadows to sign trying to rebut the letter written by Congressman Ed Whitfield (KY-R) and Steve Cohen (TN-D) which explained that weighted shoes would be acceptable under the PAST Act.

Now with the Celebration  SHOW HIO’s pending USDA decertification, and with show season approaching,  and with SHOW HIO going into suspended status last November, the sore Big Lick PSHA is desperate to become certified.

Knowing the chances were slim with  Meadows as Chair,  the sore Big Lick crowd led by David L. Howard went a different route and is now apparently asking  Gayle Holcomb to become the “face” of PSHA.

Stay tuned on this one.

  1. What a sorry bunch of folk. What don’t these people understand? The time when horses & other animals can be hurt, tortured for the amusement of the public is over. Even such institutions as Ringling Bros & Sea World are feeling the heat. Do these old fools really believe by putting a woman’s face on the problem will solve the mess they’ve gotten into. A couple years ago I was having my trailer hitch repaired & the man’s wife asked me what kind of horses I had, when I told her Walking Horses, she asked if I was going to show in the Celebration. I told her I had issues with the Celebration & wouldn’t be involved with it. She told me she stopped going to the Celebration because it was rigged. She said that she didn’t like it because a mare could never win grand champion. That pig with lipstick is pretty appropriate BGB.
