FIRST NIGHT OF THE 46TH ANNUAL NATIONAL TRAINER’S SHOW – NO CROWD (EXCEPT IN THE INSPECTION AREA) – NO ENTHUSIASM – GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS – AND SOMEBODY PULLED THE PLUG ABOUT CLASS 10

SHELBYVILLE, TN – Night One of the Trainer’s Show was underwhelming.  The USDA was present, but had the Thermography machine on the Table.   Several horses were turned down for scar rule.

The threat of enforcement of scar rule put the fear in a lot of the Big Lickers.  The key test by which the USDA will be judged is if this will be a Three Day enforcement of the Horse Protection Act.  Or a show the flag,  then back off – like it has been so so many many times before.

THURSDAY NIGHT – MARCH 13, 2014

There were more people around and close to the Inspection Area than there were in the stand watching the Horses in the  Show Ring.

CALSONIC INSPECTION AREA

CALSONIC INSPECTION AREA

  • ATTENDANCE – Virtually nobody,  but the employed barn help and family of Exhibitors and Trainers.  You had to have tinted glasses to keep your eyes from being hurt due to the glare of off of the blue seats.
  • CLASSES – Light, real light, did i say  light – yep,  real real light.

The overall mood was going through the motions.

No zip or pzazz whatsoever.

There was an extremely long pause between Class 8 and 9.

Nephew Eugene is looking into that.

Some of the horses that passed inspection were fairly deep:

THURSDAY NIGHT - AMATEUR LADY STALLIONS

THURSDAY NIGHT – AMATEUR LADY STALLIONS

One of the most entertaining features was the Announcer.

Some of his better lines:

“Our great industry for which we will fight and prevail.”

“If these three can make it into the ring – any can.”

“I don’t need a cocktail if I can see that”.

“The Walking Horse is the City of Shelbyville”.

“The love is deep here at Center Ring”.

Honorable Judge Dean Byard did the Honors.

Before the Trainers Show the Trainers held a “LIVILEHOOD MEETING” which didn’t prove to be much after all.  Lobbyist Jeff Speaks made an appearance and did a combo of “You’re in big trouble”  and “It’s looking good”.

The Trainers were not required to vote at showing at only one HIO.

The PSHA big pitch – “give us the money” – takes place at 4:00 p.m. Friday.

The plug got pulled on WHATTAJAYROE’s Live Streaming of the Show somewhere about Class 10.  The prime suspect fits the description of this man:

Jeffrey Howard, Editor - PSHA Spokesperson & Walking Horse Report

So far no reward has been posted to assist in locating the culprit.

This guy is also a suspect.  Some thinks the two of them may have been working together.

For the record, it wasn’t Nephew Eugene who did it.
