This Thunderclap campaign will tell Congress to pass a bill, the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act, H.R. 1518/S. 1406 — to end the abuse.
The PAST Act will amend the Horse Protection Act to end the industry’s failed system of self-policing, ban the use of devices implicated in the practice of soring, strengthen penalties, and make other reforms needed to finally end this torture.
This legislation already has the bipartisan support of more than 50 Senate co-sponsors and more than 260 House co-sponsors. The American Horse Council, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and every state’s veterinary medical association have all endorsed the bill: now it’s your turn.
Join our Thunderclap to share the message and stand for horses.

HSUS is seeking to legislate the type of shoes 3 breeds of horses can wear. It is clearly an effort to further their animal right’s position and opens the door for all horse shoes for all breeds being legislated. HSUS would have you believe it is because of “rampant” abuse that this legislation is needed. The 3 industries are 96.7% compliant with the federal law (higher compliance than the beef intended for human consumption).
Stop HSUS and let congress know that legislating horse shoes shouldn’t even be a consideration.
The Lickers are desperately trying to ignore the fact that the:
- AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
- AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF EQUINE PRACTITIONERS
- AMERICAN HORSE COUNCIL
have thrown their considerable weight behind the PAST ACT, and the Lickers continually tilt at the Humane Society windmill.
