WASHINGTON, DC – The S. 1406, Prevent All Soring Tactics, (PAST ACT) will be considered for “Mark Up” at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday by the United State Senate Commerce Committee.
Nephew Eugene says 12 of the 23 Committee members are sponsors/co-sponsors of the PAST ACT, one of whom is Senator John Thune (R-SD), the ranking Republican on the Committee.
Another key factor is the Bill is sponsored by Senate Commerce Committee member, Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH).
Eugene says, like so many things in life, a lot depends on who shows up for work tomorrow. So it is ultimately important which Senators are sitting in the chairs when Chairman Rockefeller calls up Item #3 on the Agenda –
S. 1406, Prevent All Soring Tactics Act (PAST Act)
Nephew Eugene says there’s no such thing as a sure thing, but he believes things look better for “The Flatters” on Wednesday than they do for “The Lickers”.
Most importantly, Nephew Eugene says, is how things look for “The Horses”.
The PAST ACT is sponsored by Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and it is co-sponsored by 50 U. S. Senators, the distribution of which was clairvoyantly predicted by the Opinion Poll Map of TWHBEA members conducted in October 2013, and tabulated by Cook & Co. of Arab, Alabama.
- S. 429, the Concrete Masonry Products Research, Education and Promotion Act of 2013
- S. 1014, Youth Sports Concussion Act
- S. 1406, Prevent All Soring Tactics Act (PAST Act)
- S. 1275, the REFI Pacific Act
- S. 1379, the Federal Communications Commission Consolidated Reporting Act of 2013
- S. 1468, Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act of 2013
The hearing will be webcast live via the Senate Commerce Committee website. (Refresh the Commerce Committee homepage 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to automatically begin streaming the webcast.)
The PAST ACT has 51 announced Sponsor/Co-Sponsors in the U. S. Senate including 8 Republicans. It is sponsored by
The PAST ACT was previously set for Senate “Mark Up” on March 5 and then reset for March 12. Informed sources report that Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) asked Committee Chairman Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-VA) to postpone the March 12, 2014, “Mark Up” session until Alexander had time to introduce a Senate Companion Bill to Representative Blackburn’s HR 4098 which was labeled by The Tennessean as a “BILL TO ENABLE SORING”.
Alexander introduced his measure last week, and Kentucky Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rand Paul (R-KY) jointly sponsored the Bill with him. Interestingly, Senator Johnny Izakson (R-GA) is a co-sponsor on both the PAST ACT and the Alexander Bill.
Long time sore Big Lick ally Mitch McConnell is the Senate Minority Leader, but Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) determines the Agenda in the Senate.
If the PAST ACT is “Marked Up” tomorrow and voted out of Committee, Nephew Eugene says there will be a fast moving train in the block.*
