SHELBYVILLE, TN – Mary Ann from Down Under whizzed through Shelbyville a few weeks ago taking in the sore Big Lick scene, and the locals were aghast this week at the world-wide airing of “WALK OF SHAME”.
A bunch of the disaffected gathered at Pope’s Cafe to discuss things.
Nephew Eugene happened to be in town and joined them.
A fellow from the Northeast named JimmyMedMac said he didn’t think things went well for the sore Big Lick crowd. He said all of Winky Groover’s prior tickets and then his getting a horse turned down at Inspection at the Trainers Show was really bad. Then it got worse when Mary Ann got the USDA consulting veterinarian to show Objective Science Based Inspection was the reason the horse was disqualified for a scar rule violation.
One lady mentioned that a Humane group guy said, “If Jackie McConnell had to do all of those things to those horses in order to get them to do that look, how are other trainers doing it without soring?” This lady asked how any horse could do the Big Lick as a Two Year old without chemically or soring the horse at some time during its training.
Then all of them started testifying and witnessing like they were in church.
One fellow named Tommydoc he had seen it done many times, and if he hadn’t, he would find something else to do with his spare time.
Jimmymedmac jumped in and disagreed about the soring and then got off into a long-winded discussion about federal and states rights. It mainly sounded like this man was trying to justify the soring not being stopped due to some legal mumbo jumbo, and didn’t give two hoots if horses were being hurt or not.
One said soring was trying “to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” He was adamant in saying that you can take an athletic two year old and train it to be a champion Big Lick horse without soring it. All it took was muscle development and training.
Nephew Eugene silently wondered to himself if there was no soring, how did the Saviour Horse “Honors” feet get in such bad shape?
Honors was supposed to be the most talented horse in the history of Big Lick breed, but by the time he was five years old, Honors had scars on both front feet and couldn’t show at the Celebration.
Here is a ticket Honors got as a Two Year old
At the 2013 Celebration, Honors was turned down at inspection for scars on BOTH of his front feet. Interestingly, S.H.O.W. HIO inspectors did not find any HPA violation.
Jimmymedmac suggested just let them have the Tennessee Walking Horse and start another Horse Breed called “The Southern Horse”. Then they all got off into discussing Affordable Health Care and states and federal rights … again.
WHATTAJAYROE joined in and said Jackie MConnell was trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. WHATTA apparently didn’t know that Jackie McConnell never had any plugs, rather his was a championship line of eminently talented Big Lick horses at all times. The best money can buy. Jackie’s reputation was not starting colts – it was jockeying talented horses bought for him to ride by rich customers. You don’t get to be Hall of Fame Trainer, Celebration World Grand Champion winner without having top stock and knowing your craft – both of which Jackie McConnell did.
WHATTA, who has never trained anything a day in his life, then bloviated that the Big Lick horse today needs nothing but hard work. Then WHATTA criticized Mary Ann for not being “positive” and not answering WHATTA‘s question if she could see why Winky’s horse was turned down for scar rule violation.
WHATTA must have missed this part of WALK OF SHAME in which Mary Ann interviewed USDA Consultant Expert Dr. Tracy Turner who explained how the Objective Science Based Inspection was performed, and why it was conclusive of scarring resulting in Winky Groover’s horse being disqualified for scar rule violation. A scarred horse by definition is a sore horse.
WHATTA was adamant that he had talked to Trainers and they have just promised him that all the current talented horse needs is lots of work and correct shoeing.
One of Wallinda‘s friends Katie from Texarkana agreed with Tommydoc that Jackie was taking a short cut. She failed to mention that at the time Jackie got busted by ABC Nightlne he was serving a Five year suspension for soring horses, and he continued to train Big Lick horses the entire time with a Blue Ribbon stable of horses and wealthy customers with the full knowledge and approval of everyone in the Walking Horse “Racket”.
Then Katie blamed everything on the economy. Katie is a good friend of Wallinda.
Sirella came in about this time, and she recalled an idea offered the Trainer BOYZ with a $45,000.00 reward for the winner. The idea was the colts would be started and have 24 hour a day surveillance of the entire process to prove that no soring was done in produce a Big Lick show horse, and the Trainer of the best one would win $45,000.00.
She said none of the Trainer BOYZ would participate because they all thought it was a Communist pinko plot involving Humane subversives. Sirella said this upset her a lot because they were like stubborn mules (Radar takes particular offense to this) and wouldn’t cooperate in proving you could “make” a Big Lick horse without soring.
Sirella was upset that Mary Ann showed the ABC Nightline video of Jackie fixing, shocking and hitting horses. At one time, Sirella’s best horse came from Jackie’s barn. Sirella said Mary Ann should have been more “positive” after having spent time around different Big Lick training barns in Beford County and seeing how things were done.
WHATTA told Sirella about media groups being corrupted by the Communist Human Subversive Pinkos and that you just couldn’t trust them, and you had to take witnesses with you when you met with them. Wallinda showed up about this time and told WHATTA, just don’t let them interview you, just give them what you want them to have and tell them to like it or lump it.
Nephew Eugene had to leave and go to the feed store about this time so he doesn’t know how it all ended up.
He got the definite impression that the Pope’s bunch gave Mary Ann “Two Thumbs Down” on “Walk of Shame”.
