BRODHEAD, KENTUCKY – Cousin Gary Lane at Windswept Stables in Brodhead, a suburb of Lexington, will give Sound Horse People throughout the World an opportunity to have fun and vote on their preference of two of the greatest NATURAL Flat Shod Tennessee Walking Horses of all time – based on ONE criteria only – which Horse was the best based on film footage you will see of both Horses in motion..
There is only ONE known film of Merry Go Boy in existence. You will see it along with film of Midnight Sun – side by side – then you will cast your vote.
Merry Go Boy and Midnight Sun.
Please understand that BOTH of these horses were Champions, so there really is no winner or loser.
And the online Poll is strictly about which Horse was the best based on the film of each you will see – NOT which Horse sired the most Champions.
In the day, the Midnight Sun – Merry Go Boy debate often resulted in heated discussions leading to raised voices and, in some instances, fisticuffs.
There are no known instances of any duels, but there could have been.
Midnight Sun and Merry Go Boy ignited the post war popularity of the Tennessee Walking Horse before soring ruined it. As this Poll Map reflects, the foundation exists for the Tennessee Walking Horse breed to once again become popular and prosper instead of being an equine pariah.
Most of those folks have gone on now, and if they are still here, they’ll probably be shaking four prong walkers at each other or bumping wheel chairs over the Merry Go Boy – Midnight Sun debate, or just agreeing that they were both marvelous horses.
Merry Go Boy stood at S.W. Beech & Son Stables. He lived from 1943 – 1969.
Midnight Sun stood at Harlinsdale Farm. He lived from 1940 – 1965.
Both horses are buried on the properties of the respective farms.

Folks are in for a real treat Sunday night.
It lets people take a look at the FUTURE of the Tennessee Walking Horse by looking at its PAST.
