PULASKI, TN – At the Red Carpet Show Of The South last night, “Saviour” horse “HONORS” was ticketed by a USDA VMO coming out (post show) for a SCAR RULE violation after winning the Stake Class in a two-horse class.
This time “HONORS” made it off of the trailer, but he didn’t make it out of Giles County, Tennessee without receiving a Horse Protection Act turn down which will most likely knock “HONORS” out of competing at the 2014 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration which begins on August 20, 2014.
“Honors” being turned down was a repeat of the 2013 Celebration when “Honors” was disqualified PRIOR to showing due to a SCAR RULE violation – except this time, “Honors” was found to be sore coming OUT of the show ring.
PLEASE LISTEN TO THE CROWD’S REACTION from last year’s Celebration after learning Honors didn’t come into the ring for the Stake Class.
Just like last year, the Celebration’s S.H.O.W HIO DQP inspectors working at Pulaski AGAIN found nothing wrong with Honors in the pre-show inspection.
Informed sources say that since the 2013 Celebration, laser surgery procedures have been performed on the horse’s front feet to remove scars. Informed sources also say that Trainer Gary Edwards, brother of Larry Edwards, met with APHIS Deputy Administrator Chester Gipson, DVM in Washington the week following the historic “WALK ON WASHINGTON” on June 18, 2014.
“Honors” is trained by Larry Edwards of Carl Edwards & Sons of Dawson, Georgia.
Honor’s soring history started when he was a young horse.
“HONORS” ““ the horse being billed as the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking “Horse Of The Century” was apparently sored when he was two years old.
Honors was entered in Class 29A at the 2010 Celebration. The DQP detected “SCRUFFING”(sp – SCURF) which is a reaction to skin being highly irritated (SORE) and it flakes off. The correct spelling of the word is “scurf”. It is used to describe the skin residue. Prior to taking a horse through inspection, trainers use a fine toothed metal comb to meticulously remove all ‘scurf’ so none is present when the horse is inspected by the dqp. In this instance ‘scurf’ was detected, and the ticket was written, and “Honors” was not allowed to show ““ just like he was not allowed to show last night.
Here is an example of “SCURF” on “Dutch” – the Horse rescued by the Humane Society from going to slaughter – and what “SCURF” looks like:
ATTACHED IS THE SHOW HIO TICKET #2914
The ticket is dated August 26, 2010 and signed by DQP Tony Edwards. It shows Kelly Weaver as the Exhibitor and Joe Fleming as the Trainer.
Honors was being billed by “Big Lick’ aficionados as the Tennessee Walking Horse “Secretariat”. He was natural and free going, but alas and alack, he was apparently doing what appeared to be “Poetry In Motion” with enhanced techniques which are considered soring under the Horse Protection Act.
The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is 24 days away and so far:
- The former Ethics Chairman of the Walking Horse Trainers Association Larry Joe Wheelon of Maryville, Tennessee (same Hometown as Senator Lamar Alexander) pleads guilty to soring a Tennessee Walking Horse – ONE FOOT SORE – at the East Tennessee Walking Horse Trainers Auxiliary show in Chestnut Hill, Tennessee on July 12, 2014.
- Walking Horse Trainers Association 2nd VP David Landrum, who served a two year Federal Suspension for soring horses and is Steve Smith, Senator Alexander Campaign Finance Chairman, long time former sore Big Lick Trainer, leads a Panel of FIVE Celebration Judges, all of whom have Horse Protection Act Soring histories.
- “Saviour Horse” “Honors” gets turned down on SCAR RULE – again.
- Celebration Chairman David L. Howard springs a surprise in the form of an apparently rigged and totally NON – INDEPENDENT “VAC” Vet Advisory Committee on the Trainer BOYZ and the General Public about 10 days before the August 5, 2014, Celebration entry deadline.
It’s been said before, but sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up.
