CCABLAC DELIVERS CLEAR MESSAGE TO USDA WITH OVER 3,500 CHANGE.ORG SIGNATURES/1,000+ COMMENTS – URGING STRONG HPA ENFORCEMENT THIS WEEK AT MISSISSIPPI CHARITY HORSE SHOW IN JACKSON

WASHINGTON, DCCCABLAC  delivered the following items today to Mr. Tom Vilsack, U. S. Secretary of Agriculture;  Mr. Kevin Shea,  USDA APHIS Administrator; and Dr. Chester Gipson,  USDA APHIS Deputy Administrator:

  • AAWHA Letter – March 23, 2015
  • List Containing over 3,550 Change.Org Petition Signatures
  • List of Change.Org Petition Comments (89 pages)
  • “USDA HORSE PROTECTION ACTIVITY REPORT” for the 2014 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration.

The CCABLAC letter urged USDA officials to strongly enforce the Horse Protection Act at the Mississippi Charity Horse Show in Jackson, Mississippi this week.

The Show is known for “SORING”, and four of the five Show Judges have Horse Protection Act Violation Citation histories.

Last year’s Champion TWH was “SORED” at Mississippi in 2012.  The Trainer riding this Horse was prosecuted last Fall for “SORING”.  The Owner has multiple HPA Violation Citations for “SORE”.

The CCABLAC  letter included the “USDA Horse Protection Activity Report” from the              2014 TWHNC.   It asks the USDA APHIS to prepare a “USDA Horse Protection Activity Report” for the 2015 Mississippi Charity Horse Show so the public will be able to see that the USDA is doing its job to eliminate “SORING”, not merely regulate it.

Nephew Eugene says it’s time for the USDA to set aside political influence and threats of litigation,  and please listen closely to the over 3,500+ people  from every state and over 70 foreign countries, who in just seven days have sent a clear message to the USDA officials to please strongly enforce the Horse Protection Act to protect “The Horses”  from the cruel “SORING”.
