JACKSON, MS – It’s a long way from being an art auctioneer at a high society Museum Gala, to owning a “SORE” abused “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse at the 73rd annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, but Mississippi Charity Horse Show Manager Mr. Robert Taylor managed to do both.
Mr. Taylor apparently sees nothing wrong with taking bids on watercolors and also having his “Big Lick” Horse Trainers “SORE” his horses so they can compete for “Blue Ribbons” in the show ring.

A preview party was held in conjunction with the event at the home of Karen and Sonny Rush on February 20.

Mr. Brad Davis was Ordered by USDA Administrative Law Judge to serve one year Federal Suspension in face of “SORING” charges for violating the Horse Protection Act.
CLICK ON LINK BELOW – COPY OF BRAD DAVIS DECISION & ORDER
Mr. Robert Taylor’s “Big Lick” Horse Trainer Mr. Brad Davis who trained “My Titleist” served a ONE year USDA Suspension from Horse Training from February 25, 2014 to February 24, 2015, and paid a $2,200.00 fine, all related to charges of “HORSE SORING”.
Mr. Taylor is apparently able to justify his involvement with “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty to Tennessee Walking Horse evidenced by the “SORED” – “My Titleist” – by his annually presenting a “Blood Money” donation from the Mississippi Charity Horse Show to the UMMC Batson Children’s Hospital.
“THE SCOOP” TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE PUBLICATION
Mr. Robert Taylor as so proud of the “Blood Money” Donation that he felt compelled to write the following Letter To The Editor which was published in The Scoop Walking Horse newspaper.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
June 15, 2012
I have been president of the Mississippi Charity Horse Show for the past five years. This show has been in existence for eighty-two years and has done much for charities. It is a three-night Tennessee Walking Horse Show held each spring. Our association is all volunteer and no salaries are paid.
In the last three years, we have given the Blair Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson a total of $105,000. Last year, the hospital chose to dedicate an examining room in their new emergency room to our show. The last two years donations have been $35,000 and $50,000 respectively. This was done with the USDA present five of the six nights and our entries were found to be approximately ninety-eight percent compliant. In our economic world today, four percent unemployment is considered full employment so I would say that ninety-eight percent compliant is excellent, especially when you consider it is subjective to one person’s opinion. Based on the number of tickets written at routine traffic roadblocks, I would say that the number of persons driving without license or insurance falls far below ninety percent. I, for one, am very glad that we do not advocate closing our automotive factories because of this non-compliance. As long as there are children, animals, and humans, unfortunately there will be a certain amount of abuse. Why would we want to punish the ninety-eight percent who work hard to do what is right?
The southeast United States is recognized as being one of the most generous groups of people in our country. Over the past five years as president of our show, I can surely say that Tennessee Walking Horse owners rank at the top of the list. There are many shows in our industry who give to charities and organizations who have scholarship funds and camps for the youth.
One can only imagine the good that tax-deductible charities could do for others if they were as diligent with their funds as is the Jackson, Mississippi show. We would like to thank all the trainers, owners, and exhibitors for their generosity and for treating their horses with great care and respect.
Please remember that Mr. Taylor wrote his June 15, 2012 Letter To The Editor of The Scoop Walking Horse newspaper AFTER he received a DQP Ticket for his “SORE” Horse – “My Titleist” – at the 2011 Celebration.
And to fully illustrate Mr. Robert Taylor’s “Comfort Level” with SORE “Big Lick” Horse Abuse, Mr. Taylor wrote his “Letter To The Editor” only about two months AFTER “Gen’s Black Magic” was “SORED” at the March 2012 Mississippi Charity Horse Show.
It is noteworthy that the 2012 “SORED” “Gen’s Black Maverick” was the 2014 Mississippi State Charity Horse Show Champion.
“GEN’S BLACK MAVERICK”- 2014 MISS. CHARITY STAKE HORSE CHAMP
Shame on Mississippi Charity Horse Show Manager Mr. Robert Taylor.
He needs to resign as Horse Show Manager before the sun comes up in the morning.
And no Mississippian needs ever attend the Mississippi Charity Horse Show as long as it features “Animal Cruelty” by permitting “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses to be exhibited.
