NASHVILLE, TN – America is built on the First Amendment to the U .S. Constitution, which ensures the “public’s right to know”.
The Tennessean newspaper is the keeper of that flame.
Today four citizens met with officials at The Tennessean newspaper, and candidly discussed matters regarding the Animal Cruelty of the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse. The persons provided sources and information to make sure that The Tennessean newspaper gets this story rightas the “2O15 CITIZENS INITIATIVE” and public protests continue to grow in the Southern States.
Ms Dee Dee Miller, President of the Walking Horse Owners Association, provided that in 2104, the WHOA International (featuring only Flat Shod Tennessee Walking Horses) had more entries than the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. She said, “There were no Horse Protection Act “SORING” violations” at the International.
AAWHA Media Rep Clant M. Seay provided that “The American Horse Council refuses to allow TWHBEA (Tennessee Walking Horse breed registry) to be a member.” He said, “The American Horse breeds, such as Arabians, Quarterhorses and Thoroughbreds do not want to be associated in any way with the Animal Cruelty of the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse.

Less than 30 days ago, Animal Cruelty advocates Mr. Jeffrey Howard and Mr. David L. Howard ran an article in The Walking Horse Report which prominently mentioned the name of Ms. Maria deVarenne, Editor of The Tennessean. The article inferred that Ms. deVarenne (News Director) was in the “hip pocket” of the latest high priced “Political FIX-IT Firm” that the proprietors of Animal Cruelty (“Big Lick”) have hired to sanitize and save the stench from hurting horses in the name of family entertainment.
The latest one is “Ingram Group” – owned by Mr. Tom Ingram, an old-time crony of U. S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN).
“Shelbyville, Tenn. – The Ingram Group, a nationally recognized strategic consulting and lobbying firm, recently met with the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and presented a plan for the future of the Tennessee Walking Horse and The Celebration. The Celebration initially met with The Ingram Group in late 2014 to explore options of how the groups could potentially work together.
The Ingram Group conducted several meetings with influential decision makers including Senator Lamar Alexander, Dr. Jim Thompson, Dean of the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine, Neil Chatterjee, Senior Counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Maria de Varenne, Editor of the Tennessean. The conversations were part of the fact-finding mission to help further understand the industry and testing The Ingram Group’s theories.”

The newspaper sent a reporter to cover the West End Protest held in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 24, 2015.
A Change.Org Petition urging “BOYCOTT” of the Columbia Spring Jubilee has now gathered over 2,200 signatures in a week. It follows on the heels of another Change.Org Petition with over 5,300 signatures protesting a “Big Lick” show in Columbia on April 24-25, 2015. Following a Friday protest, the Saturday night show was moved to another town.
Public protests of the “Animal Cruelty” throughout the “Circle of Soring” are planned.
Nephew Eugene says all those other fancy Animal Cruelty folks may have a couch, but for right now out here at Theta, we’ll just stick with the old front porch swing.
