COLUMBIA, TN – The question of “What’s Next” posed in the October 31, 2014, www.billygoboy.com article was answered on May 30, 2015 at the Columbia Spring Jubilee:
BIG LICK TRAINER BOYZ MAC BENHAM HITTING MAN AT DALLAS-FW AIRPORT
TRAINER BOYZ MAC BENHAM ON THE JOB WITH CELEBRATION SPONSORS
Not one Licker, not one, has publicly:
- Expressed concern for Ms. Teresa Bippen.
- Apologized for the actions of Mr. Jamie Lawrence.
- Expressed disapproval of the actions of Mr. Jamie Lawrence.
regarding Ms. Teresa Bippen almost getting run over by Mr. Jamie Lawrence driving the black truck in this picture and shown in the following You Tube:
Instead, a Walking Horse BOYZ Trainer’s wife, Ms. Lauren Tillman, whose husband Brock Tillman is pictured on this Horse, Gen’s Black Maverick (found sore at the 2012 Mississippi Charity Horse Show) has outrageously commented on the incident of alleged reckless endangerment of Ms. Teresa Bippen by Mr. Jamie Lawrence while operating a deadly weapon.
The matter is presently being investigated by the Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland. If a Maury County Grand Jury indicts Mr. Lawrence of a felony, then Mr. Lawrence will be afforded the presumption of innocence.

Regarding the alleged reckless endangerment assault with a deadly weapon by Mr. Jamie Lawrence upon Ms. Teresa Bippen, Ms Lauren Tillman said,
“Hate he missed!! What a show tonight!!! Let them walk on!!!”
FROM THE PEN OF AN ANONYMOUS BLOGGER BELIEVED TO BE A DESCENDANT OF SAMUEL CLEMENS A/K/A MARK TWAIN
An anonymous blogger, who chose not to protest, yet subsequently wrote from an in defilade position about the brave citizens who resolutely stood on the side of Maury County Park Drive last Saturday evening protesting on behalf of over 45,000+ persons who signed Change.Org Petitions against Animal Cruelty of “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses:
“When the wife of a person currently accused of violating a federal law can say with all sincerity that she’s sorry that someone wasn’t hurt for the “crime” of standing on the grass and holding a sign with an opinion about animal cruelty, it is reflective of the mindset that comes with the defense of the big lick horse.
“Hate he missed” further substantiates research that people who will hurt animals or stand by while animals are hurt, have a higher than average likelihood of being willing to hurt people at some point in their lives.
This brings us to the comments of the show manager, David Sisk, who lives in Maury County. Speaking to the local paper, bragging about the increased number of competitors at the show, but not addressing the empty grandstands, and in direct response to the presence of the protestors, Sisk said, “ Many people invest tens of thousands of dollars into these horses. Why would they want to abuse them? They would not want to abuse their horses. They want to enjoy them.”
Why indeed? And yet, the data base of violators shows that some of the most expensive horses in the business have been scarred, have shown up with bilateral and unilateral sensitivity, and pop positive for prohibited foreign substances including pain deadening substances.
These expensive horses show signs of inflammation associated with pain response when exposed to thermography. The horses hit a lick that every horseman and woman in the world , outside of the walking horse industry, recognizes as ungainly, unnatural, and unbalanced.
Now, these horses don’t own themselves. Someone owns them and someone, either abuses them or pays to have them abused, in order to win in competition. That someone can also say that he or she loves them.
So, why would these people, with their expensive horse show rigs and their expensive horses, hurt them?
The blog warrior missed, other than the small children chanting “Big Lick, Big Lie” on Friday, the most moving and effective expression of free speech against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty was a young man from Georgia who directly asked the Lickers:
“WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HURT YOUR HORSE?”
“BIG LICK, BIG LIE”
“BIG LICK, BIG LIE”
“For anyone who doubted what the big lick world at its worst can be about, the comments of Lauren Tillman in combination with the actions of a little man with a big temper and a large truck, gave a truer picture of the “industry” and its state of mind than any “happy horse story” that the Ingram group will get placed in a newspaper.”
If people in the industry begin to act out more aggressively as protestors continue to make a stand of conscience, the folks who oppose violence done to horses in the name of performance and entertainment, and who send that message with signs and their own physical presence, would do well to remember that both non-violence as well as the refusal to verbally mud wrestle , will, in the end produce a positive result. In the meantime, they should watch both their fronts and their backs. A sign isn’t much protection from a bully with a big truck.”
Maybe next time the anonymous blogster will come on out and join with those who stand with the persons who PROTEST against Animal Cruelty of the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses. (Nephew Eugene says she can stand down on the quiet end if she wants to be like Mahatma Ghandhi)

THE VIOLENT WORLD OF THE SORE BIG LICK TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE BROUGHT TO LIFE IN THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH AIRPORT
Posted on October 31, 2014
THETA, TN – October 23, 2014 was not the best day in Mac Benham‘s young life.
In the wake of Mr. Benham’s unprovoked attack upon an individual in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, the world’s eyes focused on the fact that 27 year old Mr. Benham grew up in the sore Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse World.
Mac Benham is the son of California-based Big Lick Trainer Scott Benham who trained 1982 Two Year Old World Grand Champion, Pride’s Final Edition. Final Edition was crowned World Grand Champion in 1985. Mr. Benham’s mother’s family owned and showed Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses for decades.
Mr. Benham’s violent assault triggered flashbacks of the 2012 pictures of Jackie McConnell violently beating Tennessee Walking Horses and shocking them with cattle prods. And there was the picture of the young man kicking a horse after it collapsed at the 2014 Celebration at the end of an extremely hot early evening class.

The video capturing Benham’s attack now has over 4,500,000 hits, and Benham’s relationship to the training of sore Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses has been established.
And in many ways the photos of Benham attacking the man is not dissimilar to the actions of Hall of Fame Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse Trainer Jackie McConnell in his brutal treatment of Tennessee Walking Horses aired on ABC Nightline in 2012:
The news media has also reported Benham’s history of animal abuse:
“Furthermore, “He has also been in trouble with the US Department of Agriculture at least twice for violations of the Horse Protection Act for allegedly mistreating Tennessee Walking horses he was supposed to be training. He was charged for ‘soring’ a horse named Major General’s Ritz in the 43rd Annual National Walking Horse Show held March 18, 2011 in Shelbyville, and again for doing the same to a horse named ‘Willie Twilight’ on Aug. 31, 2012, at the 74th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, also in Shelbyville.”
“Soring,” according to the USDA is “a cruel and abusive practice used to accentuate a horse’s gait. It is accomplished by irritating or blistering a horse’s forelegs with chemical irritants (such as mustard oil) or mechanical devices” to make the horses adopt a Tennessee Walking Horse’s distinctive high-stepping gait.
Normally, the walk is developed through years of careful training, but Benham hoped to pass the horses off by torturing them until they were unable to step normally. He was fined and disqualified from showing horses for six months.”

The last three weeks have not been kind to the sore Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse:
- N.C. STATE FAIR UPROAR – About 19,000 signatures were collected protesting and calling for cancellation of Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses at the N. C. State Fair. After media and public attention, the Agriculture Commissioner assured critics the continuation of Big Lick classes will be reviewed before the 2015 N.C. State Fair.
