MTSU – MURFREESBORO, TN – Gen’s Ice Glimmer, America’s Tennessee Walking Horse, has successfully connected the dots between MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) President Dr Sidney A. McPhee; Big Lick Animal Cruelty violation ticket recipient Mr. Steve Smith; and former U. S. Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander (R-TN), and a Culture of Big Lick Animal Cruelty entrenched for decades at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University).

MR. STEVE SMITH – BIG LICK ANIMAL CRUELTY VIOLATION CITATION
BIG LICK WORLD CHAMPION MARE, MR. STEVE SMITH UP, TRAINER MR. DAVID LANDRUM, FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE
MR. STEVE SMITH AND MTSU PRESIDENT DR. SIDNEY A. MCPHEE
U. S. SECRETARY OF EDUCATION LAMAR ALEXANDER AND MR. STEVE SMITH
FORMER U. S. SECRETARY OF EDUCATION AND SEN. LAMAR ALEXANDER
MTSU is Tennessee’s largest university.
Steve Smith is well acquainted with Dr. McPhee. As main financial backer, Mr. Smith has provided MTSU in excess of $6 million dollars, for the Smith baseball stadium and other projects.
Steve Smith is well acquainted with Senator Lamar Alexander. As 2014 Campaign Finance Chairman, Mr. Smith gave Senator Alexander in excess of $3 million dollars
In 2014, Senator Alexander blocked, and is presently blocking passage of a federal law, PAST ACT (Prevent All Soring Tactics Act), that would eliminate the Big Lick Animal Cruelty.
This is despite MTSU Horse Science Faculty Professor Vet John Haffner publicly and conclusively declaring to all who will listen that the Big Lick TWH is Animal Cruelty:
And despite almost 12,000 people asking Dr. McPhee via Change.Org Petition to follow the leads of the University of Tennessee, and University of Mississippi, in severing ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty, Dr. Sidney A. McPhee stubbornly refuses to publicly sever all ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty.
By his not publicly severing ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty on behalf of MTSU, Dr. Sidney A. McPhee is condoning the unethical mistreatment of animals. Dr.John Haffner has made it clear that the Big Lick is Animal Cruelty.
The USDA Vets in their recent inspections at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration confirmed that the Big Lick is unethical treatment of animals by disqualifying 35% of all Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses for alleged Horse Protection Act violations (Animal Cruelty).
The USDA Vets were ably led by USDA APHIS Deputy Administrator Dr. Chester L. Gipson.
On the last day of the Celebration, former Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Board Chairman Mr. David L Howard went on a racist rant, and accused Dr. Gipson of “rank incompetence” and “trying to destroy a rich White Man’s sport”.
According to Dean of Students Sudak, MTSU has a 33% African American student enrollment.
Celebration official Mr. David L. Howard’s racist outburst alone should make the decision for MTSU President Dr.Sidney McPhee on severing ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty.
Back to Gen’s Ice Glimmer, TWHBEA #24704770, Blood Type # TWT050457.
Gen’s Ice Glimmer was saved from auction killer buyers on July 28, 2015, by the Horse Plus Humane Society of Hohenwald, Tennessee, with a little help from a friend, bought him in the auction parking lot before he went under the hammer.
The USDA OIG was immediately contacted, and after examination by USDA Vet Dr.Bart Sutherland, an official USDA IES (Investigative Enforcement Services) investigation was opened on possible Horse Protection Act violations from transporting him and entering him in a sale.
Then former Big Lick Trainer Carl Bledsoe heroically performed a “Mock” inspection preparation on Gen’s Ice Glimmer which shows the “tricks of the trade” that Big Lick Trainers use to conceal scars so a Big Lick horse can pass inspection.
This video has now been seen over 15,600 times
Once Glimmer was rescued, a look into his past revealed that Glimmer was tortured on the MTSU campus at the 2013 “MTSU Walking For Education Horse Show”.
Upon learning of this on August 26, 2015, instead of trying to do what was right, MTSU attempted to cover it up by publicly saying an “outside group or organization” was responsible. There was never any outside group. The responsible party was VP Mr. Martin Johnson of the MTSU Pre-Vet Society of which the parent organization is MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University).
By not publicly severing ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty, MTSU is condoning the unethical treatment of animals and being influenced and held hostage by Mr. Steve Smith’s $6 million dollars.
Interestingly, Mr. Smith’s TWHBEA’s position on the PAST ACT is: “The TWHBEA International Board is 100% united in its goal of eliminating abuse and cruelty to any horse regardless of its breed.” For the record, Mr. Smith’s TWHBEA has lost approximately 30% of its members over the Big Lick Animal Cruelty issue.
Yet, MTSU Horse Science Professor Vet Dr. John Haffner says the Big Lick IS Animal Cruelty.
The MTSU Walking For Education Show was held on the MTSU main campus at the Tennessee Livestock Center. The TN Livestock Center is a two-minute walk from Mr. Steve Smith’s MTSU Baseball Field. The previous year, the show’s name was “MTSU Pre-Vet Society Horse Show” and the welcoming remarks were given by Dr. Warren Gill, Director of Agribusiness and Agriscience Department at MTSU. It was further discovered that Dr. Warren Gill recruited students to the Big Lick, and demonstrated riding a Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse with stacks and chains in front of the Pre-Vet Society students:
Last week, Gen’s Ice Glimmer story was told to the American people and the World
Two Facebook videos have been viewed by over 625,000 people and reached over 1,543,372 persons around the globe.
OVER 1,500,000 PEOPLE REACHED – VIEWED BY OVER 625,000+
They have been shared on Facebook over 9,000 times, with over 3,500 comments.
Senator Alexander, Dr. McPhee and Mr. Smith should visit https://www.facebook.com/HelpGlimmerRecover and see what people have to say, and fully realize the damage that they are collectively doing to MTSU.
Senator Alexander should also note the 10 public protests against Big Lick Animal Cruelty in Middle Tennessee (Nashville, Columbia, Shelbyville, Murfreesboro) which have taken place since April 2015.
Another Citizens Protest Against Big Lick Animal Cruelty is set for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015, in front of the MTSU Student Union.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if MTSU President Dr. Sidney A. McPhee could have the chance to meet Gen’s Ice Glimmer in person, and apologize for what happened to Glimmer at MTSU, and then tell everyone that “MTSU publicly severs all ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty, and there will never be another Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse allowed to be exhibited on MTSU property.”
MTSU PRESIDENT DR. SIDNEY A. MCPHEE
Dr. McPhee needs to decide which is more important, MTSU’s academic standing and reputation of integrity as an institution of higher learning, or Mr. Steve Smith’s money.
Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) needs to give some thought to the stain placed on his legacy as a moderate progressive leader of Tennessee whose highest accomplishment in government was U. S. Secretary of Education.
Big Lick Animal Cruelty has no place on a Tennessee college campus. Ms. Gray’s daughter earned a Master’s Degree at MTSU.
