`SHELBYVILLE, TN – In a startling sequence of events last night at the Calsonic Arena, according to eyewitnesses, Trainers BOYZ Show Manager Mr. Billy Morgan told head USDA Vet Inspector Dr. Jeff Baker to “Take This Job And DO IT”, and the Celebration’s S.H.O.W., HIO (Inspectors hired by the Trainers BOYZ) walked off the job and stopped “checking” (inspecting) horses at the National Trainers BOYZ Show.
Tension had been brewing during the three day event at which newly appointed USDA APHIS Deputy Administrator Ms. Bernadette Juarez was present Thursday and Friday nights, but was not present Saturday night. Eyewitnesses say that Dr. Baker had advised Mr. Morgan that too many “SORE” horses were being presented at inspection.
Tension was building in the Inspection Area and the pot boiled over when Three Time Celebration World Grand Champion, “I Am Jose”, was turned down and disqualified for alleged violations of the Horse Protection Act (Animal Cruelty), and not allowed to be exhibited.
According to eyewitnesses, Trainer BOYZ Show Manager Mr. Billy Morgan, WHTA President Mr. Bill Young, Celebration Board member Mr. Jeffrey Howard, and serial Big Lick exhibitor Ms. Martha “Sister” Blackmon-Milligan conferred, and the Show Manager Morgan decided for the Celebration’s S.H.O.W HIO inspectors to walk off the job. Mr. Morgan told Dr. Jeff Baker, head of the USDA Vet inspectors, who then coped with the situation. When the Show Manager, Mr. Morgan, does not have inspectors to check the horses, then the Show Manager assumes personal liability for the fines and penalties for violations under the Horse Protection Act. The Celebration SHOW, Inc inspection program, along with “Big Lick” Exhibitor Mike McGartland and Contender Farms, LLP, a Mississippi Limited Partnership, sued the USDA in U. S. District Court in Texas last week challenging the USDA’s enforcement of the Horse Protection Act.
Both Trainer BOYZ Show Manager Mr. Billy Morgan and “Big Lick” contributor Ms. Martha “Sister” Blackmon Milligan were present at the prosecution of “Big Lick” Trainer Mr. Jamie B. Lawrence on Feb. 2, 2016, when Mr. Lawrence was convicted by a Maury County (Tennessee) Circuit Court jury of “Assault” for driving a black dually truck and horse trailer at animal welfare advocate Ms. Teresa Bippen, President of FOSH (Friends of Sound Horses) while she was protesting Big Lick Animal Cruelty at Columbia, Tennessee on May 30, 2016.
Expanded coverage coming Monday, March 21, 2016.
