Wartrace, TN – This bucolic village (pop. 650) with one stop light situated nine miles from the Celebration grounds in Shelbyville, Tennessee does not see many Change.Org Petitions focusing attention on what is going on there.
Main Street – Wartrace, Tennessee – U.S.A.
But it did a week ago on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 .
So far, over 2,500 persons have signed it, and momentum is growing.
History was made again on Monday, July 8, 2016, when the Mayor and Board of Aldermen (3 of 5 are female) held a hastily called “Work Study Session” trying to figure out what was going on “outside Wartrace” that would involve their town. The “Big Lick” crowd was worried wondering how this could possibly be happening nine miles from the Celebration at nearby Wartrace. They summoned up the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration CEO Mr. Mike Inman, and WHTA Trainers BOYZ President Mr. William O. “Bill” Young and sent them nine miles out to Wartrace to attend the meeting and “take care of things”. They ended up not doing too hot.
Advising the Wartrace Board of Alderwomen (3 of 5 are female) is Town Attorney Ms. Ginger Bobo Shofner. She is the law partner of long time Celebration Board member Mr. John T. Bobo. Mr. John T. Bobo is the former Board Chairman of the Celebration Board of Directors. Mr. Bobo has been the power behind Walking Horse Report Founder – former Celebration Board Chairman Mr. David L. Howard. Until the advent of social media and www.billygoboy.com, Mr. Howard exercised a death grip on the flow of information regarding the “Big Lick Animal Cruelty Racket” for the last 40 years. And he has become a wealthy man while doing it.
So the “Fix” was in at Wartrace for the Monday night meeting, and once again “The Horses”, who cannot speak for themselves, did not seem to have a chance, until this petite lady who is one of the 90,000+ animal welfare advocates with the Citizens Campaign Against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty walked into the room.
Town Recorder Ms. Laura Gentry noted that Ms. Walker had signed the Change.Org Petition, and asked her if she would like to speak and she said “Sure”. Ms. Walker was put first while the Celebration and WHTA Trainers BOYZ were given the advantage of being able to follow her.
Ms. Walker simply knocked it out of the park, and left the “Big Lick” heavy hitters aghast with their mouths wide open.

Suddenly the tables were turned, and Mr. Inman and Mr. Young were left in the unenviable position of having to follow Ms. Walker.
Suffice it to say, it didn’t go very well for the “Lickers”.
Mr. Inman did most of the talking. The Celebration pays him about $160,000.00 year to tell some whoppers. Neither he nor WHTA Trainer BOYZ President Mr. William O. “Bill” Young disappointed. Mr. Inman said, “There’s no such thing as “Big Lick”. There are flat shod and performance classes. The “Big Lick” is a figment of your imagination.” Mr. Inman said the Wartrace Horse Show was a 110 year tradition”.
WHTA Trainers BOYZ President Mr. William O. “Bill” Young echoed what Mr Inman had to say. Here Mr. Young is holding up a picture of 2012 World Grand Champion “Walk Time Charlie” in his April 2016 appearance before the Panama City Beach City Council.

It should be noted that Trainer BOYZ President Mr. William O. “Bill” Young served a Federal Suspension that he agreed to while facing “Big Lick Animal Cruelty” allegations made the USDA. In the past, Mr. Young worked closely with disgraced Celebration Hall of Fame Trainer Mr. Jackie McConnell training and managing the Floyd Sherman family show string.
Mr. William O. “Bill” Young told the PCB City Council a “Big Lick, Big Lie” that inspired this Ad which appeared in the Panama City News Herald newspaper. Mr. Young said “Some of the pictures you have been shown today and told about were taken in the 60s – 70s – or maybe even in the early 80’s. That horse is not around any more”.
Actually, these pictures prove that “This Horse” was around in 2006 – 2015.

The Wartrace Town Hall is a five-minute walk to the city owned Jernigan Field where the annual Wartrace Horse Show is held. It is located near the Walking Horse Hotel behind which the 1939 World Grand Champion Strolling Jim is buried.
Wartrace labels itself as the cradle of the Tennessee Walking Horse because the first Tennessee Walking Horse Super Bowl (Celebration) circa 1939 hailed from Wartrace and is buried out behind the vintage Walking Horse Hotel. Jim was trained natural by a home town boy named Floyd Carothers. This was before the day of the “Big Lick” when Animal Cruelty hijacked the future of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed in the late 1950s.
