This may very well be the last WGC crowned while wearing chains and stacked pads.

The last WGC crowned, NOT wearing “action devices” was White Star in 1954, I do believe. White Star also had the distinction of being the first and only mare to win the title.

Oh, how times have changed since 1954!

After introduction of the pads and chains, and the use of foreign substances on the front legs to achieve the higher and higher step, the Horse Protection Act of 1970 was passed by Congress to protect these precious animals from torture.

We as Americans, owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the horse for helping us build this nation. There was a time that the value placed on a horse was so high, that a person could be hanged to death for stealing one. Think about that.

Seriously, take a moment and understand that a person could lose their life, for the act of depriving another, the use of their horse.

What in the world do you think our fore-fathers would have thought about these “Big Lick” people putting chemicals on the legs of a horse, then a chain to irritate it even more? Then put a pair of high-heels on the front feet to make it look and walk like a freak!

In the days not that long before 1954 I’m afraid a person with “Big Lick” intentions toward any horse would have been dealt with very differently than today.

The very people that are whining about HSUS and the government trying to stop them from torturing a horse today, make my skin boil. Oh, how I wish those people could have lived back in a time when they would have been dealt with more appropriately than just a rule to stop their shenanigans.

There is Nothing Pretty about a Horse with Galoshes

The “Big Lick” is a freak show and it needs to stop now.

Nobody. Nobody, is going to come to a show in 2016 and pay money to watch your circus of torture. Owners may have their family there. Trainers may have their family there. Owners and trainers may have their friends there (once), but nobody else is coming, period!

Did A Federal Court Injunction Clinch the 2016 WGC For Honors????

FEDERAL JUDGE TELLS USDA YOU CAN’T KEEP HONORS OUT OF SHOW RING WITH PRE-SHOW INSPECTION DISQUALIFICATION

The 2016 field of 19 horses scheduled to compete, will include the following:

Honors is the only horse guaranteed to show (due to a lawsuit), but will he win and be the last horse with pads and chains to win the WGC in 2016?

  1. White Star was not the only mare to win the TWHNC World Grand Championship. Melody Maid won this title in 1942, as did Black Angel in 1943, and City Girl in 1944. If you care to check the records, you will find this information to be correct. Let’s give credit to these other great mares. I well remember White Star though, as this was the first Celebration I attended.
