SHELBYVILLE, TN (CELEBRATION) – On Day Six, Tuesday, August 30, 2016, The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is obviously failing.
Tennesseans have overwhelmingly responded to the CCABLAC (Citizens Campaign Against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty) call to “BOYCOTT” the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty.
Last Tuesday, CCABLAC animal welfare advocates appeared before the U. S. District Courthouse in Nashville, Capitol of Tennessee, and appealed to all Tennesseans to simply “Walk Away” from the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty and not attend the 10 day event held in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
CCABLAC animal welfare advocates “Protested” the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty by standing in front of the Celebration Gate last Thursday and Saturday nights:
This www.billygoboy.com “Big Lick” video has now reached over 240,000 people, and been viewed over 90,000 times. The virtually unanimous verdict of the people watching the horses flail around the ring is that the “Big Lick” featured at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is that it is unabashed Animal Cruelty.
And the proof that the public is boycotting the Celebration are these empty seats. The public BOYCOTT called for by CCABLAC conclusively proves that the “Big Lick” product is not marketable and has no future.
Crowds will never return to Shelbyville to sit and pack the 12,000 seat West Grand Stands like they did in the good old days of 1992.
PHOTOS AT CELEBRATION – VERBOTEN!! – WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE??
And if the Public BOYCOTT wasn’t enough, the Celebration Board of Directors, and its officials reached manic panic level, on Tuesday night, August 30, 2016, and apparently instructed its employees to attempt to prevent www.billygoboy.com from documenting the empty seats in the West Grand Stand.
They did not succeed.
Here is the official Celebration video policy:
Last night, the essence of the updated unpublished, but enforced, policy was “You can’t take a picture or video unless you are the owner of a horse and that horse is in the show ring”.
The Celebration can get away with that morally reprehensible foolishness when you have a soulless local newspaper like the Rust Communications owned Shelbyville Times-Gazette, which provides the Celebration ‘cover’ when it blatantly refuses to cover the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty story, and the damage it has done to the Shelbyville – Bedford County community which the newspaper is supposed to serve.
Rust Communications Co-Presidents, Mr. Jon Rust and Mr. Rex Rust, should be ashamed of themselves.
Although four nights remain in the ten night 78th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, the die is cast, and it is a certain failure. The “colossal collapse” which was prophetically alluded to by Columbia Daily Herald newspaper Editor Mr. James Bennett on April 25, 2015 has now come to pass.
“Walking horses are synonymous with Tennessee, just as thoroughbreds are to Kentucky. It’s a beautiful vision clouded by an ugly reality. The industry, crawling on its knees with two black eyes, stands on the precipice of a great comeback or a colossal collapse.” Mr. James Bennett, Editor, The Daily Herald newspaper
Meanwhile the USDA “Comments” “FOR” the proposed Regulation to remove the “pads and chains” and abolish “Big LIck” Animal Cruelty are starting to steamroll. The AVMA demanded that the Regulation to the Horse Protection Act be approved without any delay.
Tuesday, August 30, 2016, witnessed the largest number of comments for one day since the 60 day period started on July 26, 2016. There were – 267 Comments – and 93% of them were “FOR” the proposed Regulation with only 7% opposed.
