JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI – Things looked grim for “The Horses” in late February 2015.
The Flatters were in disarray, and the Lickers were on a roll.
The passage of the PAST ACT was badly bungled in the Summer-Fall of 2014, when the bill’s sponsor became ensnarled in an alleged ethics scandal and he left the battle field, and then conflicts of interest resulted in no cloture vote being called for by U. S. Democratic Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid (D-NV).
On January 3, 2015, U. S. Senator Addison Mitchell McConnell, Jr. (R-KY), arch-enemy of “The Horses” since 1988, became U. S. Senate Majority Leader. This doomed the fate of the PAST ACT for as long as the grass shall grow and Senator Mitch McConnell holds that position.
On January 17, 2015, with the help of a staffer from U.S. Rep. Scott Desjarlais (R-TN) office, the LIckers “mugged” USDA VMO Dr. Jeff Baker at the annual Inspector Training Session at the Calsonic Arena at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration grounds. After being harassed, Dr. Baker left the meeting.
On February 19, 2015, the sledge-hammer blow came when a three judge panel from the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an opinion overturning the USDA federal regulation requiring the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration inspection program, S.H.O.W., Inc. (and others) to impose mandatory minimum penalties for violations of the horse protection act (Animal Cruelty).
On February 22, 2015, full of sauce and feeling their oats, the Lickers held a televised 90 minute “LIVE FORUM”. All the Licker players participated, including the “Big Money” BOYZ.. There was much celebrating that “Happy Days Are Here Again” for the perpetrators of the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty.
The welfare of “The Horses” was truly in peril.
Observing all of this, a fifth generation Mississippian, whose Tennessee Walking Horses won World Championships and World Grand Championships in the “Big Lick” World in the 1980s, concluded that “Enough was enough”. He started CCABLAC (Citizens Campaign Against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty), and made it clear that CCABLAC was independent of any existing Animal Welfare organizations, and stated that “WE, The People” and the First Amendment to the United States Constitution was more than enough to take down the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty Racket.
On February 27, 2015, with no fanfare, this Change.Org Petition was published.
Representing “The Horses” were CCABLAC (Citizens Campaign Against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty), with assistance from FOSH, (Friends of Sound Horses, Inc.).
Before the overconfident “Big Lick” cabal realized what was happening, the case was presented to the officials at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, and the Chancellor of Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, and the decision was made.
On March 6, 2015, the following appeared in The Clarion-Ledger, Mississippi’s leading newspaper.
UMMC REFUSES TO ACCEPT $50,000.00 ANNUAL DONATION FROM “BIG LICK”
The “Big LIckers” cried foul, and ran to the University administration yowling and waving the dicta from Fifth Circuit Court panel’s opinion which was authored by Judge E. Grady Jolly of Jackson, Mississippi.
It was to no avail.
The Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital is the favorite charity of Ole Miss alums Archie and Olivia Manning and their son, Eli. Neither the Manning Family nor the University of Mississippi want the stigma “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty associated with Ole Miss.
The “Jackson Horse Show” officially known as the Mississippi Charity Horse Show was set for the Kirk Fordice Equine Center on March 26-28, 2015.
CCABLAC locked in and got serious about making the case for “The Horses” to the Mississippi media:
Ms. Marsha Halford – Anchor – WLBT TV (Channel 3) – Jackson, Mississippi
The horse show came and CCABLAC representative, www.billygoboy.com, went into the event held on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds armed only with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, and a $250.00 camera from Wal-Mart.
After the Lickers “prayed” for the CCABLAC – www.billygoboy.com reporter –
“Thank you for keeping us safe when we travelled here.
Protect us and our horses as we show and when we leave.
Lord, you taught us to love our enemies, and to forgive those who sin against us.
Lord, we confess that’s hard
We need your grace there.
May we pray “¦ Lord I trust in you to not let my enemies lord over me.
Let those who act fecklessly without cause be disgraced.
Help us to display our horses and our view in doing so.
In Jesus name, we pray these things, Amen.”
The after the prayer, some of the Licker Brethren attempted to attack him.
As William Faulkner intoned in his speech accepting the Nobel Prize for Literature, the CCABLAC representative, www.billygoboy.com, prevailed and took these videos capturing the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty.
They have now reached over 3,000,000 persons all over the World, and been viewed over 1,800,000 times:
Since March 28, 2015,
CCABLAC (Citizens Campaign Against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty)
- More than 20 Change.Org Petitions against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty signed by over 200,000 persons.
- Held 24 public protests from the Gulf of Mexico at Panama City Beach, Florida, to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE NATIONAL CELEBRATION
TENNESSEE STATE FAIR – NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
The demise of the “Jackson Horse Show” a/k/a Mississippi Charity Horse Show was announced on October 12, 2016 in The Walking Horse Report.
“… cancellation of the Mississippi Charity Horse Show in Jackson, Miss., typically held the first weekend in April … we are disappointed to lose a show with the history and tradition of the Mississippi Charity …“ http://www.walkinghorsereport.com/news.aspx?cid=12775
CCABLAC animal welfare advocate Clant M. Seay said, “Big Lick Animal Cruelty hijacked the Jackson Horse Show about 65 years ago. At one time, this horse show, founded by the leading citizens of Jackson, Mississippi in the 1930s, featured the natural flat shod Tennessee Walking Horses of the late 1940s and early 1950s. The horse show was held continuously for over 76 years on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.”
“It’s wonderful that the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the Jackson, Mississippi community, all pulled the plug on the Animal Cruelty to “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses. We set out to rip the covers off of what was going on at that “Big Lick” show, and that is exactly what we did. In February 2015, when things looked grim for “The Horses”, CCABLAC stepped up and assumed earned the leadership role. Now with over 24 public protests from the Gulf of Mexico to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and 200,000+ persons signing CCABLAC Change.Org Petitions opposing “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty, our animal welfare advocates clearly speak for “The Horses” who cannot speak for themselves.
CCABLAC went to Washington in 2016, and diligently worked on Capitol Hill to eliminate the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty. We won’t be satisfied until the ‘Big Lick’ is history everywhere, and we have a lot more to do between now and the end of the year for “The Horses, said Seay.
Nephew Eugene wants to know if anyone has a recommendation on a nice place to stay in East Village, NYC. It’s a long piece from Theta, but there’s no place we won’t go to speak for “The Horses” who cannot speak for themselves.
Nephew Eugene also wonders what the good people of Shelbyville & Bedford County, Tennessee think about more “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty being brought to the Calsonic Arena on the Celebration’s private property at Whitthorne Street. It is sort of like having a public “Animal Cruelty” land fill right in the middle of town.
Nephew Eugene says Gen’s Ice Glimmer video pretty much sums things up (sec :43).
